Fireplace with Atlas columns, 1821
Enormous fireplace mantel made of carved walnut and weathered cast iron. Decorated with a frieze depicting the triumphant Amphitrite surrounded by mermaids, tritons, and cherubim. Hearth adorned with a cast iron plaque with a green patina, wrought decor with openwork floral rinceaux and back plate of carved gilt brass. Three-part cast iron chimney plaque decorated with a lion's head, a dragon, and stylized flowers. The fireplace tools and technical parts are included. This fireplace was created in 1821 for an Italian castle, and was removed in 1966.
