Linear Art Nouveau brooch
18 kt rose gold, composed of 3 horizontal rows, set with an oval opal in the centre (17.6 x 14.8 x 3.2 mm). The ends are set with rose-cut diamonds. In its dark blue leather box. Australian hallmark. Signed "Brunkhorst" on the back. August Brunkhorst was a prestigious jeweller in the late 19th century. He left Germany in 1875 and settled in Adelaide, Australia, where he took over the business of silversmith Henri Steiner. Many of his jewels can be found in Australian museums. He died in 1919.
