(lot) NOTE: Born in Bruges, Frédéric Dumon started his carreer at the Bar in Bruges in 1935. Two years later, he became deputy Royal prosecutor in Kortrijk. At the start of the second world war, he went to London where he was first assistant to the administrator of the State Security Service prior to becoming from 1943, the main colleague to Walter-Jean Ganshof van der Meersch, high commissioner to the State Security Service. Frédéric Dumon was also auditor to the naval Court in Great Britain, then Belgian representative to the United Nations commission on war crimes.
Back in Belgium, he played a key role in prosecuting the collaboration as a deputy of general auditor to the military court. Frédéric Dumon ended his legal career as General Prosecutor to the court of cassation and as Chief Prosecutor to the justice Court of Benelux.
Beside being a legal practicioner, he taught in universities in Belgium ULB and VUB and wrote a large number of books. He was knighted Viscount in 1983.
