Our november 5th auction will start with the superb “Louise”collection of snuff bottles, divided into 67 lots, from the 18th to the early 20th century: amber, jade, Peking glass, porcelain a couple of which marked and of the Qianlong period. Amber, ivory, tortoiseshell artefacts, among which a magnificent Ruyi scepter will follow; then beautiful export enamels, with a splendid 18th century Famille Rose coffee set, intend for export via the Silk Road, ancient jades, a Xuande mark lacquered tixi stand, bronze, a Tang silver ewer…
The auction then continues with an attractive paintings section, with works by Lu Zhi (1496-1576), Qiu Zhu (16th century), Sha Qi (1914-2005), Yu Fei-an (1889-1953), an impressive fresco over six hanging rolls dated 1958, by Zhang Xingjie (1909-1991), Shen Binru (1915-2008), Peonies by Wu Shujuan (1853-1930) and a splendid mountain sunset by Shun Yunsheng, (studio of Zhang Daqian). Then, porcelain and stoneware, with a Cizhu two-headed deer, a Jun Yao saucer, a splendid pair of bowls with the Chenghua mark, and our prime lot a pair of blue and white vases, calligraphed by Liu Yong (1719-1805) Minister of War and Rites of Emperor Qianlong.
A few attractive Thangkas and Tibetan bronzes are included in this sale.
