Results of our April 23rd 2018 auction
With 65% of the lots sold, the previous auction, specialized in paintings and decorative art, was one of a tremendous success. Due to the many acclaimed artists, the results proved to be a veritable achievement. For example two Ensor prints sold for €19 000 and €58 000 respectively, a Sartorius canvas was auctioned at €8 000 while a Jenny Montigny closed at €11 000. Furthermore, a landscape painted by Boulenger was auctioned off at €6 000 as well as a Picasso lithography for €4 200.
As for the decorative arts the beautiful bronze couple Flore and Zephyr by Auguste Moreau went for €12 900, Madrassi’s sea fairy sold for €3 400, vases by the contemporary artist Jean Lemmens sold between €2 600 and €3 400, and ultimately the coveted Apollo with lyre by Victor Rousseau, which was also displayed on the cover of the catalogue, sold for €3 400.
Our March 26th auction
With over 70% lots sold, our March 26th auction was a real success. Our Chinese art section realized his prices, with lot 172 (two porcelain cups hammered at 31,000€), lot 175 (a yellow dragon plate hammered at 11,000€) and lot 213 the Qi Baishi scroll, sold for 130,000 €.
Military awards, coins, banknotes and medals did very well with some hammer prices exceding 3x estimate.
