CHINA, 1925 - 1950 Photographic archives of a Belgian scientist in China 1925 - 1950 Including two b/w photo albums in Italian format, several large format photographs mounted on cardboard. We see the Sino-Belgian Radium Institute in Shanghai (teams and buildings), Hong Kong and in particular Repulse Bay, ... Many views of excursions, street acrobats, temples ... PROVENANCE: Ernest De Vleeschouwer (1897 - 1967), who worked for the Charles Ley trading post in Tientsin, then for the Belgian Society of Enterprises in China from 1930 to 1932, then for the railways in China and directed the Belgian Chinese Radium Institute (Shanghai Cancer Center) until 1949. He was interned with his family at Stanley Camp between 1941 and 1945.
