MANUFACTURE DE SEVRES, CA. 1761

Manufacture de SEVRES, ca. 1761
Bather, or a Nymph going to the baths, Etienne Maurice Falconet (1716 - 1791). After.

Biscuit sculpture, enamelled porcelain base, decorated with allegories of love, fishing, and water in reserves on a gold-speckled blue ground. Marked 'B' in a hollow for Bachelier and T under the base.

Note: The biscuit figure of a bather was created in Sèvres starting in 1758 based on the marble original by Etienne Maurice Falconet, exhibited at the Salon in 1757, and in the collections of Madame du Barry until 1794, now conserved at the Louvre.
