19TH CENTURY WORK IN THE MANNER OF MAISON FOURDINOIS

19th century work in the manner of MAISON FOURDINOIS
Neo-Renaissance cabinet

Carved wood lacquered in white (originally black), walnut burl veneer interior, the front has two drawers and a folding door. Decorated with devil's heads, lions, and carved Corinthian columns, adorned with six silk panels printed with Grecian friezes depicting mythological scenes, under glass.
Note: this technique of colour printing on silk (late 18th century) integrated into a piece of furniture can also be found on a chair signed by Georges Jacob and conserved at the Mobilier National (France) CF "Les Ebénistes du XIXe siècle" de Denise LEDOUX LEBARD, Paris 1984, éditions de l'amateur. p. 285.
This technique is mentioned in "Georges Jacob, ébéniste du XVIIIe" by Hector LEFUEL, édition Albert Morancé, 1923, page 58.
