Together with a plate in pewter, 990g, 27 cm, flag and legend engraved "Compagnie Maritime Belge 1895-1955", rev. two punchmarks, one with initials JCD. (4) NOTE: The Compagnie Maritime Belge du Congo (C.M.B.C.), was founded in 1895 and it ensured the maritime connection of cargo, postal mail and people between Antwerp and the Congo Free State. On February 20th 1930, the C.M.B.C. acquired the leader of the Belgian merchant navy, the Lloyd Royale Belge and changed its name to Compagnie Maritime Belge. The liaison with the Congo remains a priority but it developed other routes to the Americas and the Far East. Since 1970's, it specialised in the transportation of commodities, containers, oil and refrigerated LPG.
