Pair of andirons featuring children, ca. 1740
Pair of bronze andirons depicting two children, one playing the horn, the other holding a book. Golden patina almost entirely gone.
This model was notably catalogued in 1763 in the inventory of Bellevue castle. (C.f. Journal du Garde-Meuble de la Couronne, National Archives of France.) The Carnavalet museum retains a specimen similar to this one. (Legs Henriette Bouvier).
