The Sphinx
Watercolour on canvas marouflaged on panel with underlying drawing. Probably an incomplete work for which preparatory drawings can be found on the market. Secessionist Art Nouveau frame. Note: A student of Pierre Puvis de Chavannes and well acquainted with Rosicrucianism and Joséphin Péladan, Séon was a spearhead of symbolism in France. He illustrated numerous esoteric works.
