Oil on canvas. Large seaside landscape in panoramic format. Signed at lower right. Note: Self-taught, his meeting with Corot and Courbet during a stay in Paris influenced him towards a raw and expressive touch which gave his marine landscapes a certain realism which would later be adopted by Constant Permeke. In 1867, he co-founded the Société Libre des Beaux-arts.
