Louis XIV cartel clock
Tortoise shell veneer, brass, darkened pear wood, and embossed gilded bronze. Decorated with flowers, a faun's head, and sphinxes. Dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, movement requires weekly winding, chime sounds on a brass bell using count wheel striking. Verge escapement, cord suspension with Huygens corrective strips. Signed Thuret à Paris on the dial. 89 x 32 x 17 cm
