Hendrik Adolf Schaep (1826-1870)
Village scene; Oil on panel signed 'H. Schaep' at lower left. Hendrik Adolf Schaep is particularly known for his seascapes. Educated at the Antwerp Academy, he participated in exhibits in Antwerp, Brussels, and Ghent starting in 1840. His work is marked by a romantic style and sophisticated technique. In a moulded giltwood frame.
