Henri Cassiers (1858-1944)
View of Rotterdam at dawn Watercolour gouache on marouflage paper. Signed at lower right. Location given on the back. Bears an antique tag from the Georges Giroux Gallery, numbered 1272. An architectural student of Paul Saintenoy, Henri or Henry Cassiers' painting was influenced by the English school, including Turner et Charles W. Bartlett. Cassiers travelled to Holland many times in his career as an architect. . He is one of the most illustrative representatives of native Belgian impressionism, along with Guillaume Vogels. 23 x 36 cm-
