Ohannès Alhazian (1881-1958)
Landscape
Oil on canvas signed "Alhazian" at lower left. Ohannès Alhazian was an Armenian painter born in Van in 1880, where he lived until the age of sixteen. Drawn by France's artistic reputation, he came to Paris and became a disciplined student of Cormon at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts. While being a very successful portraitist, Alhazian specialised in landscapes. He travelled extensively throughout Finland - a country which particularly attracted him - as well as the Netherlands.
In a gilt wood frame. Damage at upper right.
