Duc de Bauffremont Collection, Paris (according to an inscription on the reverse of the canvas); J. B. Renier Collection, Liège and Copenhagen in 1958.

A letter from Professor Fiocco dated 18 October 1958 accompanies the painting. He judged the painting from photographs to be a work from Titian's studio around 1513, when he was working with his brother Francesco.
There are several versions of this composition, notably in Saint Petersburg, Florence and Naples. Bears an old attribution to Palma.
