Late 19th-early 20th century Austro-Hungarian work
Large chess set
Silver, vermeil, gilded metal and enamel. The board opens up to reveal a red velvet interior holding the silver, vermeil and light and dark blue enamel pieces. The corners are adorned with knights surrounded by mother-of-pearl and amethyst beads. Hallmark 925.
