CAUCASUS, 19TH CENTURY
Dragon rug
Blue background, decorated with three and a half octagonal medallions alternately red and green in a square with a cream, yellow, orange and red counter-ground, charged with a small hooked medallion, between dragons and clouds, cream border of garlands of flowers between bayadère braids (wear, tear).
The dragon and cloud motifs are similar to the Karabagh Chondsoresk rug reproduced in E. Gans Ruedin, Le Tapis du Caucase, pp. 146 & 147
