Tapestry of the Seaports hanging, after Jacques de Kerchove and Adrien Campion
Wool and silk, cardboard taken over by Simon de Pape, seaport with boat, pelican, fish, birds, shellfish and seashells.
Restored by the Chaudoir workshops in 1914.
267 x 199 cm
A seaport hanging was offered in 1695 to the Chancellor of Sweden, kept in Bjornstrup Castle
Another hanging, delivered in 1696 for the castle of Marly
A comparable tapestry is reproduced in: Benoit Henry Papounaud, La Tapisserie Française, p. 163 , n°47 Les Ports de mer avec pélican et coquillage d'après Jacques de Kerchove et Adrien Campion, carton taken over by Simon de Pape, manufacture of Beauvais about 1722 (identical border).
