Charcoal on paper, signed 'Corneille' at upper right. A certificate from the Corneille Foundation will be issued to the buyer. Guillaume Cornelis van Beverloo (aka Corneille) was born in 1922 in Liège to Dutch parents. He studied drawing at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten from 1940 to 1943. Along with Karel Appel, Asger Jorn, Dotremont and Constant, Corneille participated in the creation of the Cobra Group in 1948 in Paris.
